Hart

Step 1 - Registration

 How to register:

You will only be able to apply for properties through Hart Homes if you are a have completed an application form. The application form can be done online here please check who can use the service for more information about whether you are eligible to join the register. You will also need to provide identification to us to verify your application, please see the verification section for details.

If you are accepted on to the housing register we will write to tell you:

  • Your housing application number (you need this to bid for properties)
  • The number of points your application has been placed in and your effective date (the date which you applied).
  • The number of bedrooms you are entitled to bid for based on the Hart bedroom standard below.

You must tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances so that we can reassess your application and if necessary make changes to your points, bedroom entitlement and effective date. Your points will not usually change unless your circumstances change with the exception of waiting time points (5 points awarded on the anniversary of your effective date for each year you are waiting up to a maximum of 25points).

How are points awarded to my application?
To see the reasons for which points are awarded as well as how the bedroom standard is assessed and any other frequently asked questions see the document 'Applying for a Home' (pdf)

What are my chances of being successful in bidding?
There are typically about 150 properties which become available and are advertised for rent each year. However, with over 1500 applicants on the register, this means 90% of applicants will be not be successful within any given year. To give you some feedback on the properties we have let, you can view the Recent lets section or see the Lettings map which gives you an indication of your chances on the housing register.

As you can see for many people the Housing Register is unlikely to be a quick solution to their housing need, but that is not to say we cannot help, our Housing Options team can give free housing advice to anyone who needs it, click here for contact details.
