Welcome to Hart District Council's Hart Homes scheme.

We aim to give you more choice in deciding where you want to live. If  you are registered on the Hart Housing Register you can look for a property through the Hart Homes scheme. You must then tell us which properties you are interested in. This process is called 'bidding. You may only bid for a property if your application has been accepted onto the Hart Housing Register. Please note it is your responsibility to check what is available and bid for properties regularly, if you do not bid you will not be considered for any properties advertised.

You can use this website to:

Properties that are available for rent will be advertised each week on this site, or by telephone on 01252 774470. Vacancies will also be advertised at the following locations:

  • The Civic Offices in Fleet
  • Hart Neighbourhood Centre, London Road, Hook
  • The libraries in Fleet and Yateley
  • Fleet & Yateley Citizens Advice Bureaux
  • Sentinel Housing Association, Church Road, Fleet

What are flexible tenancies?
The new flexible tenancies brought in by central government are now being introduced by housing associations who own housing stock within the Hart area. This will mean that applicants who are nominated for a property through the housing register will no longer automatically be granted an Assured Lifetime Tenancy.

Instead, applicants may be granted a Fixed Term tenancy (where an applicant is granted a tenancy for a set time - i.e. 5 years, after which the tenancy is reviewed to see whether a further term will be offered). The decision as to what type of tenancy is granted will be made by the housing association in line with the rules set out in their tenancy policy.

The housing association will advise applicants what type of tenancy they are being offered before a decision is made whether to accept the property they have been nominated for.

If you have any queries regarding the criteria used to determine the type of tenancy which will be granted (in line with the housing association's tenancy policy), you should contact the housing association who owns the property you are interested in applying for (placing a 'bid' on).

Contact telephone numbers for the main housing associations are as follows:
Sentinel - 0800 195 5515
Thames Valley - 0800 358 7767
Hyde - 0238 083 6800

What are my chances of being successful in bidding?
There are typically about 150 properties which become available and are advertised for rent each year. However, with over 1500 applicants on the register, this means 90% of applicants will be not be successful within any given year. To give you some feedback on the properties we have let, you can view the Recent lets section which gives you an indication of your chances on the housing register. For many people the Housing Register is unlikely to be a quick solution to their housing need, but that is not to say we cannot help, our Housing Options team can give free housing advice to anyone who needs it, click here for contact details.
